Counting down the hours until 5 p.m.?
Maybe you just got back from your lunch break and you’re facing the next four hours of work with dread. Even if you’ve acquired your ideal job or finally have started that business, work can feel burdensome sometimes.
However, J.M. Barrie makes a good point about our perspective on work. He draws attention to the fact that we only feel discontent about our current situation when we’re wanting something different. For example, you might want to be fly fishing right now or golfing or sitting on the couch watching New Girl. Instead of letting your mind drift to whatever else you wish you could be doing, shift your perspective to be present at your job. Be grateful for a vocation, the work/life balance, and an opportunity to provide for yourself.
